Solving the Budget Stalemate

There is a surefire way to resolve the stalemate in Washington between the so-called political establishment and the upstarts with too much power tea party. They are enjoying their clout a little too much and destroying what little progress is being made.

Stop Coddling Financial Dolts

I wake up this morning and on the front page is the news that President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. My first thought after "wow, that's terrific" (I'm an unabashed supporter) is wondering how the Republicans will spin it as a bad thing.

Hard to know what to say. I feel like I've been holding my breath for two years watching Bush go from arrogance and incompetence to falling asleep at the wheel. When things went badly for him he seemed to lessen his interest in the problem.

Being John McCain

John McCain must be in a quandary. Twice he lost to Bush because of negative ads against him when he ran what is generally believed to be an upfront campaign. Everyone was done in by the Bush-Rove style of no-slam-is-too-low politicking.

The Saudi's and 2008

Having been on vacation I don't know if this got a lot of play, but in today's paper it states that the Saudi's are forgiving milions of dollars in debt to the Iraqi government and are sending over an Ambassador, since everything there is now hunky dorey.
